The Wheel Industry started FWD and RWD to make things easier for YOU

FWD and RWD are one of the most confusing terms when buying a new set of Custom Wheels. All FWD(Front Wheel Drive) and RWD(Rear Wheel Drive) is referring to is the OFFSET of the wheel. It does't matter which wheels propel the vehicle, or if the vehicle is Jet-Powered a vehicle still has an Offset, either FWD Offset or RWD Offset. They classified them as FWD or RWD because all Front Wheel Drive cars at the time had a +40 Offset, and the RWD ones had the +0 to +20 Offsets. So it was very easy to say this is a RWD or FWD Wheel. Most cars today have FWD Offsets yet are powered by the Rear Wheels, so that's why people get confused.


Why are you showing me FWD Wheels? My Car/Truck is RWD!

In the previous paragraph we showed that FWD and RWD are terms used for the OFFSET of the a wheel, it has nothing to do with which wheels propel the vehicle. There are many RWD vehicles that have FWD OFFSET Wheels, its becoming more and more popular with the Vehicle Manufacturers. We are showing you FWD Wheels because your Vehicle has a FWD OFFSET, it doesn't matter if the Rear Wheels are the ones that move the vehicle, you have FWD OFFSET Wheels.


What is FWD and RWD?

FWD is a High Positive Offset Wheel typically +35 to +45 Offset

RWD is a Negative or Zero Offset Wheel typically +0 to +20 Offset

The wheel offset is a measurement for where the mounting of the wheel will be in reference to the outer or inner edge of the wheel. A FWD wheel is mounted at the outside of the wheel(Flush), where as a RWD wheel is mounted in the center or all the way in, which makes the wheels stick out a bit.
